Dahi Vada or Dahi bhalla is our all time favourite snack. We Indians mostly eat dahi vada at special ocassions or ceremonies. It is Sweet, Spicy and creamy snack made with yoghurt and flavor of different chutneys. Dahi Vada takes lot of time for preparation. So If you want to make it at home you need to have patience. Here I am going to share with you a quick recipe of Dahi Vada.



Dahi Vada Recipe

Preparation Time: 7 Hours
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
 
Ingredients required :
  • 1 Cup Urad Dal
  • Green chilli and ginger paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 4 cups lukewarm water
  • 3 Cups curd (yoghurt)
  • Sugar as per taste
For Garnishing :
Red Chilli powder, Cumin Powder,, Chopped coriander leaves, Tamarind Chutney.
 

Method

  • Take 1 cup urad dal in a bowl and soak it for 7 hours or overnight.
  • After that drain the excess water from it.
  • Add the Dal to the grinding Jar and grind it well. Make a smooth paste. Add little water if required. Consistensy should be thick.
  • Now Transfer it to a bowl. Add green chilli and ginger paste. Add salt.
  • Stir the batter well for 2-3 minutes. This will make your vada soft and fluffy.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. When oil is medium hot, take small portion of batter with your fingers and Add carefully to the frying pan.
  • Fry till it becomes crispy and turn golden brown in color.
  • Now take them out on a paper towel. Keep them aside.
  • Take lukewarm water in a bowl. Add all the vadas to it. The oil will remove from vada and it will become soft and fluffy.
  • Now Remove them from water and press with your hands to remove excess water.
  • Tranfer all vadas to a plate.
  • Now whipp the curd and make it smooth. Add sugar and Salt to it.
  • Take vadas to serving plate. Add whipped curd to it.
  • Finally Garnish with chilli powder, Cumin powder, tamarind chutney and chopped corriander leaves.
