Sambar wadi is speciality of vidarbha and a very famous snack in nagpur. Some people also call Sambar wadi as kothimbir wadi, kothimbir means coriander leaves. Sambar wadi is a famous street food  in nagpur. It has stuffing of coriander leaves inside which makes it so tasty. You can serve Sambar Wadi as evening snack. You can also store it in a air tight container for few days. Let's see how to prepare this tasty and healthy snack.


Sambar Wadi Recipe

Preparation time : 30-40 mins
Servings : 6-8 pieces

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/2 cup wheat flour
  • chopped coriander leaves (1 bowl)
  • crushed coconut powder
  • 1 chopped onion
  •  ginger-garlic and green chilli paste
  • 1/2 tbsp khuskhus
  • red chilli powder
  • turmeric powder
  • Cumin (jeera)  powder
  • salt as per taste
  • 3-4 cashews
  • Oil for deep frying
Method:
  • Firstly Wash the corriander leaves and then finely chop.
  • Add 1 tbsp oil in a pan and heat it. add ginger garlic and green chilli paste, chopped onion and fry till it becomes golden brown.
  • Now add crushed coconut powder, jeera powder, red chilli powder, salt and cashew pieces. Mix well.
  • Add corriander leaves and stir-fry for few minutes.
  • Switch off the flame, take it out and keep aside.
  • Take 1 cup besan, wheat flour, turmeric, chilli powder, salt as per taste, and make a dough. Knead well.
  • Now take small lemon size portion of the dough and make chappati. put 2 tbsp of corriander mixture in middle of the chapati. Fold the edges and seal.
  • Simililary make remaining sambar wadi.
  • Take Oil in the frying pan and heat on medium flame. Deep fry all the sambar wadi till brown spots appear on its surface.
  • Serve with tamarind chutney.
